Book Review, “We Be Big,” Rick Burgess & Bill Bussey, Authors

“We Be Big, The Mostly True Story Of How Two Kids From Calhoun County, Alabama, Became Rick & Bubba,” written by Rick Burgess, Bill Bussey, and Don Keith is the story behind the beginnings of an Alabama radio duo. The story carries the reader from the very beginning of their aspirations as individuals into their successful reign at the radio microphone.

In the sharing of their story through this book, Rick and Bill demonstrate two powerful attributes, courage and determination. No matter how many jobs they lost, no matter how many obstacles they ran into, they continued to move forward seeking the fruition of their dreams. Their story in this manner will serve to encourage anyone who finds themselves in the same predicament, especially within today’s society.

The book carries, with its serious tone, a plethora of humor, some of which was probably not funny to Rick and/or Bill until a later date. But even within this humor, one will find a message, a message of perseverance and faith. As they share of their climb to success, they never hesitate to state that they are where they are because of God and His influence upon their lives.

All in all, this book is a recommended read, as it will serve as an encouragement to almost all who turn its pages.
