Devotion 1/11/11

John 21:2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together.

Seven of the disciples headed into the water for an evening of fishing. Their hearts were filledĀ  with the hopes of bringing back a bountiful supply, but their catch amounted to absolutely nothing. As the dawn broke upon them, they saw a man standing upon the shore but did not realize it was Jesus. Jesus, knowing of their lack of success, instructed them to cast their nets to the right of the boat; to their surprise, their catch was magnificent. This is when they realized who was standing upon that shore as the sun blessed the sky. It was their Lord and Savior, Jesus. When Peter realized it was Jesus, he jumped from the boat and headed for shore. How will you react when you first come to be in the presence of Jesus? Will you be excited beyond all your imagination, or will you tremble in fear? Seeing Jesus soon brings about our judgment, thus we must do all we can now to live as if we have been saved and sanctified by His blood. Then we will have nothing to fear.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, fill me with the joy of Your presence at all times, that I might become filled with Your love and void of the fear of my judgment.
