Devotion 1/26/11

Matthew 27:5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.

Judas had come to realize the magnitude of his decisions in life. He held within his hand a large sum of materialism, but deep within his soul was an enormous mound of guilt and remorse. Weighing the results of his actions, the scales tipped drastically into the direction of…..What have I done? Being overtaken by his guilt, Judas, threw the money at the feet of the so called religious leaders and went out to remove his own life from existence. Each of us has walked a wrong direction within his life. Each of us has felt the presence of guilt and the feelings of remorse as a result of our actions and/or words. These occurrences are what remind us of our human nature, but the true Christian will look into these moments, seeking knowledge and desiring redirection. What separates a true follower of Christ in these moments is what they learn and how they apply these lessons to their lives. We will all make mistakes. We will all make wrong statements. We will all act inappropriately at times, but a Christian will, after these moments, make adjustments within their lives, hoping it never happens again.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me learn from my actions what I must do to change.
