2/10/12 Daily Devotion

2 Corinthians 10:11 Such people should realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent, we will be in our actions when we are present.

Paul, writing to the Corinthians, was defending his ministry. Apparently, some were questioning his motives and ability to bring forth the Word of God. They claimed that his letters were weighty and forceful, but in person he was not impressive. Speaking in defense of himself, Paul declares that in his writings and in person he is the same person. He is authentic. No matter how we are, there will always be some people who will find fault with our character or personality, and that is fine. If we are being authentic, if we are living our faith boldly out loud, then the words and/or complaints of others are primarily for their own benefit, for they are spoken to make them feel better about themselves.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me become authentic in every aspect of my life, that through me this world will be able to see You.
