7/18/12 Daily Devotion

Philippians 3:15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.

In the verses previous to today’s reference, Paul tells the Philippians to forget what is behind, strain towards what is ahead, and press on towards the goal of Heaven. He wants them to focus on what they need to do to become mature Christians, Christians who desire to serve God, and Christians who desire to spend eternity with God. Immature Christians dwell on their past circumstances. Immature Christians hold onto the hurts that brought pain into their lives.   Immature Christians hold grudges against those who brought infractions into their lives in the past. Mature Christians forget what is behind, because nothing can be done about the past. They strain towards what is ahead, maturity, and press on towards the goal of eternity with God in Heaven.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me leave the past behind and strain towards that which You have in store for my life as I await the day You call me home for all eternity.
