7/20/12 Daily Devotion

James 1:4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Becoming a mature Christian is not as simple as one would hope. To grow in our faith and become mature is a process that can, for some, take a considerable amount of time, and within this time frustration can emerge. In the midst of this frustration, in our desire to be seen and treated as mature, we can become tired of wading through the elementary. Maturity should not be rushed. To be a mature Christian is to become intimately knowledgable about the gospel. To be a mature Christian is to come to understand the power of the gospel of Christ and the importance of its presence within our DAILY lives. Maturity should be the goal of every Christian, but its presence should not be sought until it has come in its own time.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, guide me into maturity, that I might be a witness of Your love, grace, and mercy.
