7/26/12 Daily Devotion

1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

The imperfection of the Christian is seen in all its glory everyday. While we are expected to change after our baptism, while we are expected to change after we have given our lives over to Christ, we will still offer into this world mistakes of varying magnitudes. There has only been One to walk upon this earth that can claim perfection, and that is Jesus. We are called to get a grasp on our sins, striving to remove them from our lives. We are called to walk straighter each and every day, striving to move forward within our walk and witness. But we will never walk in perfection, and that we must come to understand completely. Even to those who shepherd our flocks will mistakes come, but to all there is forgiveness.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, guide me into a better walk as each day passes.

7/25/12 Daily Devotion

Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,

God has brought before us salvation not because of our abilities, not because of that which we can offer Him. God has brought us salvation because of the need that is present within our lives. God has brought us salvation because He is willing to extend to us mercy, even though we deserve punishment. He saved us because we needed to be saved. He saved us because we were lost. He saved us that we might help guide others into His presence to receive the same. Praise and glory and honor belong to God for choosing to bring to each of us rebirth through the washing of our sins and the gift of His Spirit.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I want to thank You for all that You have done, but let me not do so with words, let me do so with my actions.
