7/28/12 Daily Devotion

Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; [23] to be made new in the attitude of your minds; [24] and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

After we have given our lives over to God, there is an expectation on the part of God as to the manner in which we will live our lives. Once we have been saved, our lives must begin to slowly demonstrate our salvation. They must begin to adhere to the expectations of God. What are these expectations? God expects us to begin to conform to the ways of scripture and remove ourselves from conforming to the ways of the world. He expects us to strive to become more like Christ each and everyday of our lives. He expects us to leave our old ways and desires behind and strive to live in such a way that will honor Him. This will not be easy, for the pull of the world is enticing, but the judgment of God is not worth anything this world has to offer.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me remove my old ways and replace them with Your expectations.
