8/2/12 Daily Devotion

2 Timothy 2:4 No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.

The job of an enlisted soldier is to follow orders. These orders come down the chain of command to hold a specific purpose and end result. If these orders are not carried out as passed down, there are severe repercussions. As one enters the military, he enters with this understanding in mind. The same holds true for the Christian. We are soldiers within the army of God. While we might hold different positions within this army, our commander is God. As God declares it to be, it must be followed within our lives. Otherwise, we will, in the end, answer for our actions. God does not want to be intrusive within our lives. He simply wants the best for each of us, and that will come as we decide to really follow Him.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me become willing to follow Your desires for my life.
