8/13/12 Daily Devotion

Psalm 119:45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.

Freedom comes from obedience. As we are obedient to the Word of God, we are free, free from the constraints of the world, free from the clutches of sin, and free from the confinement of our own inadequacies. As we are obedient to the Word of God, we are able to experience true freedom, and from that we find the presence of joy and the explosion of happiness. As we are confined by the world and captivated by our sins, we cannot be happy. We cannot be filled with joy in such a state, thus we will not experience true freedom. In our ability to make our own decisions and live as we desire, we may seem as if we are free. But if we are far from happiness, if we are not filled daily with the joy of our existence, then we are not free.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, set me free, that I may live within the joy of my salvation.
