10/2/12 Daily Devotion

Mark 9:43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.

Descriptions of Hell can be found throughout the Bible. Many people today have their own ideas, and in most cases they are not comparable to the truth found within the Word of God. Why does this occur? No one, especially those who are not following the path of God, finds enjoyment in the fact that within the possibility of eternity in Hell they will be succumbed to the tortuous, continual presence of fire. But as we understand this to be a possibility, it should serve as a deterrent, as a point of direction to guide our lives upon the correct path, the path that leads to eternity in Heaven within the presence of God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, show me where I need to improve my life so I can be more certain of my eternity.
