10/4/12 Daily Devotion

Mark 9:47-48 And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, [48] where “ ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’

Many people feel that small sins are inconsequential. The inappropriate glances towards someone of the opposite sex seem so minuscule when they are compared to the taking of someone’s life, but in the eyes of God they both are sins nonetheless. The extent of the sin holds no intrinsic value, for a sin is sin no matter the infraction. What this means for us is simple: God has designated a place for all those who walk against His Word, and there is nothing that can refute this truth. Where we spend eternity is completely within our scope, completely within our choices in life.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me gain control of my life in such a way that it brings You glory and not disgrace.
