[3] We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. [4] For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you,

Without workers, the church has no chance at surviving. Without its members finding the willingness to faithfully serve, the church will slowly diminish into nothing. Paul understood this concept and praised the Thessalonians for embracing it within their lives. We make excuses of all kinds, but, in the end, they will be rejected by God. We find ways to reason away our lack of involvement, but, in the end, they will not be acceptable by God. To serve God and His church is an honor. We must come to see this, or eventually others will begin thinking as we do. One day, one day in the future, because of our lack of fortitude, the existence of the church could possibly cease.
