11/7/12 Daily Devotion

1 Thessalonians 2:3-6 For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you. [4] On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. [5] You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness. [6] We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles of Christ we could have asserted our authority.

Our passion for God is clearly seen within the passion of our service. Many Christians, in regards to serving God, act like children of nine or ten years that have been told to clean their bedrooms. They clean, but not with any excitement or passion. They clean, but not clearing understanding or caring about the actual outcome. When serving God, this cannot be the image that we allow to enter into this world. The world must see our passion for God. They must see our passion for the lost. They must see us serving because we have a desire to serve, as if we care about the outcome of our efforts. Otherwise, that which we are doing will have no lasting effect, if any at all.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me serve with such passion that Your presence and my motives are never questioned.
