11/17/12 Daily Devotion

Acts 5:14-15 Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number. [15] As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter’s shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.

The great results came only because of the people who willing to bring forth the invitation of God. The church was never meant to function and grow only through the efforts of its pastor(s). The church grows as the body of believers comes to realize that their efforts are essential to the edification of the church and the expansion of the kingdom of God. With only a small, select few, the church is destined to fail. It may stagger along for many years. Her doors may remain open until the second coming of Christ, but she will not become a great success, for she will just exist. If this occurs, we have no one to blame but ourselves.“

Prayer Starter:

Lord, show me where I can serve the church. Show me what I can do to strengthen the body of Christ. Help me Lord, help me become a vital piece within the congregation, so You may be glorified.
