12/3/12 Daily Devotion

Luke 2:8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

Shepherds were important people within the history of the Bible, but they were not important. What this means is that their jobs were important, but they were not important people. Their flocks were an important part of life as they lived it, but this did not elevate them higher upon the scale of popularity or prestige. Their lack of prestige or popularity did not matter to God, for He could utilize anyone willing to serve Him. Our position in life is not as important as our willingness to allow God to be The Lord of our lives. Our position in life is not as important as our willingness to embrace the path of righteousness. Our position, when placed in the hands of God, is vitally important within society. Our lives should center around the position that God has within our lives.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, take me into this world and use me to bring You glory.
