12/17/12 Daily Devotion

Luke 1:44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.

Mary was elated about the plan God had for her life. In her excitement, she went to see Elizabeth and share with her the glorious news. Elizabeth was also carrying a baby that God brought into her life as a gift, so Mary knew she would share in her joy. As Mary greeted Elizabeth, Elizabeth became filled with the Holy Spirit, and her baby leapt for joy within her womb. There was joy within that gathering because of the great things God was doing within their lives. As Christians, our lives should also be filled with joy because of the presence of God and that which He is doing within our lives. We should be filled with joy because God has showered His love upon our lives, even though we are not deserving of this love. We should be filled with joy because Jesus set His life upon the cross to bring us forgiveness and salvation. Is your life filled with joy?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, fill me with the joy of my salvation.
