12/22/12 Daily Devotion

John 1:41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).

What caused Andrew to move with such excitement? What caused him to seek out his brother as quickly as he could? The simplicity of the answer is Jesus. Andrew was a follower of John and understood from him that the Messiah was coming, and that had to bring excitement into his life. Then, in a moment’s notice, John says, “Look, the Lamb of God.” Andrew was looking directly at the awaited Messiah. He had heard the promises brought forth from scripture. He had heard of the hopes and dreams of all those waiting for their leader, and now he was looking directly at Him. We can only imagine what he was feeling. We can only imagine the excitement as he walked behind Jesus. We can only imagine the elation he felt when Jesus turned and spoke to him. We can only imagine, but one day we will completely understand. When we walk into the presence of Jesus, we will know exactly how Andrew felt. Are you ready for this meeting?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, as I await the moment that I will meet You face to face, help keep me focused on my purpose within Your kingdom upon this earth.
