1/1/13 Daily Devotion

1 Peter 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, [5] who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Christ centered faith is what makes a Christian different from the other inhabitants of the world. Christians possess a faith that is powerfully brought forth and shielded by God. Christians possess a faith that is focused not just on the here and now but also on the eternal. Non-believers also have faith, but their faith is not placed upon anything eternal. Their faith is projected upon many of the facets of their everyday existence. Such examples would be faith in their transportation, faith in the employer, faith in the stock market, etc. Christians also have faith in these things, as it is essential to their daily existence, but the focus of the entirety of their faith is centered around their relationship with God. It is through this relationship that they demonstrate their daily trust in God for all things, for all circumstances within their lives. Is your faith in God powerfully projected within this world?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, make my faith strong as I strive to trust You with my life.
