1/17/13 Daily Devotion

1 Peter 2:9-10 but you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. [10] Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

We all have pictures that we might label before and after. Pictures from the days of our youth, when our appearances were vastly different from our present. We look at these before and after pictures, and we remember how our lives were different. We think about the good times in both eras, wondering if we would be willing to go back and begin again from a certain point. We may even use the phrase, “If I knew then what I know now…” The question that must be asked is this: if we did this in regards to our Christian life, would we want to go back and begin again? Would you go back to life without Christ? Was your life better before you received forgiveness? Was your life better before you received salvation? Hopefully, the answer to these questions is a resounding NO! But if it is, is your life reflective of this decision?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me live as if I were truly saved.
