1/21/13 Daily Devotion

1 Peter 2:13-15 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, [14] or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. [15] For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people.

Sometimes it’s hard to walk through the desires of a boss who is controlling and inconsiderate. Sometimes it’s hard to be in the presence of a parent who shows no compassion for your circumstances. Sometimes it’s hard to be in the presence of a guardian who would have preferred not to be taking care of you. Sometimes it’s hard; but in order to bring glory to God, we must submit to their authority. Submitting to them not only shows them respect for their position within your life, it also show respect for the ways of God. Our actions speak clearly, thus it is important for us to keep them in line with the Word of God, presenting to this world a proper image of what a Christian is to resemble.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me to submit to those who hold a position of authority within my life, that I may show the power of Your presence.
