1/26/13 Daily Devotion

1 Peter 2:23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

The greatest example of submission in seen in the attitude of Jesus as He hung upon the cross of Calvary. Jesus could have spoken out against those within the crowd that were speaking harshly against Him, but He chose to remain silent. Jesus could have brought threats against those who were treating Him like a common criminal, but He chose to remain silent. In His submission to the will of God, Jesus remained silent and endured the shame and suffering of death on a cross. Can we even come close the manner in which Jesus submitted to God?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, You have demonstrated to me what submission looks like through Your Son, help me begin to emulate this example within my life.
