2/8/13 Daily Devotion

Daniel 6:5 Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”

Daniel was a righteous man, liked by many, but not all. The administrators and satraps saw Daniel as a threat against their advancements, thus they wanted him gone. They sought out information against Daniel within his efforts at work, but none could be found. This left them with one area of his life to attack, the religious aspect. They moved to bring this about in convincing King Darius to write an edict that would make the act of praying to anyone other than the king illegal and punishable. Daniel learned about this edict, but chose instead to walk the religious line. He chose to continue to pray to God. Would you have chosen the same path? Would you have given up to avoid standing up for God? God desires us to stand firm in our beliefs, even when they carry us down a path that is less desirable.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, give me the type of faith that will not quiver under the strains of the world.
