2/9/13 Daily Devotion

1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

When suffering comes knocking at our door, especially suffering at the hands of another, we tend to have the desire to jump into retaliation mode. We want others to hurt, maybe even worse than ourselves, because of the infliction that was brought by them into our own lives. While this is a natural emotional reaction, it is an incorrect action. The Bible teaches that we should not seek retaliation, but instead seek to bring some type of blessing into their lives. While this can be extremely difficult task to see to fruition, it is one that can change not only our lives, but the life of the other individual(s) and isn’t that what it’s all about anyway?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, give me the strength to bring blessings into the lives of those who have brought me heartache and suffering.
