3/1/13 Daily Devotion

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. [15] But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

So many people have a very difficult time with forgiveness. They want to attach condition after condition upon their willingness to forgive another, simply because of their feelings and emotions. We are very emotional beings, but there is no occurrence within the Bible that allows us to forgive based on our emotions or feelings. In some cases, it is very difficult to forgive someone who has hurt us, especially those who are not repentant. Still, our forgiveness from God is dependent upon the manner in which we extend forgiveness to others. In other words, do we really want to spend eternity away from the presence of God because our feelings have been hurt and we don’t feel like extending forgiveness for that reason?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, teach me to forgive others as You forgive me each day.
