3/16/13 Daily Devotion

Matthew 27:46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

We can only imagine the pain and agony Jesus felt as He was hanging upon the cross. We can only begin to imagine how He might have felt alone for even a brief moment while He endured the punishment of our sins. The pain of sin cannot and should not be understated. Sin is filled with negative power, power that controls our emotions, power that guides our actions, and power that replaces our common sense. Jesus sacrificed Himself, so we could be forgiven. Jesus sacrificed Himself so we could be free from the clutches of sin. For all that He did for us upon the cross of Calvary, are we living lives of appreciation?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, You have given Your life up for me. I will do all that I can to show my appreciation.

  1. Such a good word. Gotta remember this one: “Sin is filled with negative power, power that controls our emotions, power that guides our actions, and power that replaces our common sense.” Thanks!
