4/2/13 Daily Devotion

Isaiah 54:8 In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.

Anger is an attribute of God, but it ALWAYS comes forth appropriately. How can God be happy with the direction of the world? How can He express joy when we are walking away from His presence? How can He be filled with happiness when we curse His name? God loves us all, but He is not aways happy with the decisions we make. Sometimes He is angry. The other side of all this is very important: while He can be angry with our decisions, He will always have compassion on a repentant heart. God does not work in the same manner as man. We have a difficult time showing compassion to those that have hurt us, but, gratefully, God doesn’t. Where would we be right now, at this moment, if God refused to show us compassion and hold us completely accountable for our actions?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me to extend compassion in the same manner as I have received it from You.
