4/12/13 Daily Devotion

Matthew 13:22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.

Farmers are very particular when it comes to sowing their seeds. For if they are not, they might not be in the farming trade very long. Farmers worry about the outcome of their crops, for their livelihood depends upon the proper insertion and care of that which they have planted. With that stated, they worry less when they have placed their seeds into soil that is fertile verses soil filled with thorny bushes or other such obstacles. We are not much different than the farmer. When we do not place our concerns on the proper soil, God, then we have a tendency to worry and fret over the eventual outcome. But as we come to trust Him, while we might worry slightly, we become more content knowing God is in control. So what are we to do with all this information? Learn to trust God more and worry less.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, guide my life in such a way that I am able to worry less and trust You more.
