4/13/13 Daily Devotion

Romans 8:15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

As we came up out of the waters of baptism, we received the Spirit of God. This Spirit was given to us as a guide, as a help mate, to assist us on our journey with God. The Spirit also serves as a conscience, to help us understand how to determine what decisions need to be made and which should be avoided. The Spirit takes our concerns before God when we cannot put into words the concerns of our hearts. Knowing and understanding the presence and purpose of the Spirit, we should not become overwhelmed with worry. Worry comes when we have not released our concerns to God. Worry comes when we are still holding onto even the smallest aspect of our situations. Worry comes naturally, while releasing it is unnatural, but God has promised to be there for us if we would just trust in Him.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me feel Your presence and release my concerns to You.
