4/27/13 Daily Devotion

James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

Why would God bring temptations into our lives? Yes, temptations come every day, but they are not by the hand of God. God allows temptations to exist within this world. God allows them to exist, and, as we come through them, our faith will increase and our presentation of the gospel will solidify. God, however, is not the tempter. The clarity within James’ statement is obvious: while we will see temptation, we should never believe that God is tempting us, for God cannot be tempted nor does He tempt. The presence of evil is a direct result of the sin that entered into this world back in the Garden of Eden. At any time, God could refuse evil a presence within this world, but it remains with the purpose of teaching and guiding our Christian walk.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me see and feel Your perfection within my life. Help me know, even though evil exists within this world, that You perfect presence will guide me if I just trust in You.
