5/1/13 Daily Devotion

Romans 13:13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.

Our behavior is a direct reflection of our hearts. What we do comes directly from the desires which we have imprinted within our hearts and upon our minds. Knowing this to be true, we must also know that these imprints are placed within us utilizing erasable ink, thus they can be changed at any moment. We don’t have to live improperly. We don’t have to act improperly. We don’t have to speak improperly; but more often than we should, this is exactly how we choose to live. If we were to examine our motives, in many cases, we would find that we act improperly because of jealousy. We see the attention someone else is receiving. We see their prosperity. We notice their elevated status and decide that is exactly where we want to be ourselves, instead of being happy with the life God has given us to live.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, show me how to be happy with the life You have given me to live.
