5/6/13 Daily Devotion

Psalm 10:4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

To reach for the presence of God is to carry oneself away from the existence of pride. Pride declares our greatness, while being a servant of God declares His greatness. The Bible teaches us that pride can carry us into an unhealthy understanding of God’s position within our lives, thus it causes us to become wicked. For all that is separated from the presence of God is found in the company of wickedness. That brings before us a question of great importance: Within whose company do you want to be found, in the company of God or the company of wickedness?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me seek to live for You, not me or anyone else.

  1. Love it -“To reach for the presence of God is to carry oneself away from the existence of pride.” My prayer is that I would value His presence above anything. I pray that I never allow self to quench His Spirit in my life. Thanks, Dr. Jeff

    • While I often fail, my prayer is the same. Thanks Susan.
