6/8/13 Daily Devotion

1 Corinthians 14:26 What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.

We gather to worship with a powerful purpose, edification. We are to gather for worship to allow God to unite us with the others. We gather to allow God to move within our lives individually. We gather to allow God to work through us corporately. We gather to be refreshed, refined, and restored that we might do the work of God within our daily walk. Many refrain from gathering for all the afore mentioned reasons. There are so many people who call upon God but remain at distance because they are afraid to change. They are afraid that they will no longer be able to be happy. They are afraid that they will no longer be able to make decisions. God is not and does not operate as a dictator, but He does know what is best for our lives. So why would we refrain from attending church and allowing God to powerfully move within our lives?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me embrace the power that is unleashed during weekly worship.
