7/8/13 Daily Devotion

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Everyone has to make choices. Each and every day, we are faced with a multitude of choices, some that are simple and others that are more difficult. Every choice we make sets our day in motion and has an effect on the overall progress and progression of our day. One of the most important choices we can make, one that must be made every day, is one that should come naturally, but for so many remains one that is difficult. What must we choose every day? We must choose whom we will serve: ourselves or God. Maybe you have already given your life over to God. Maybe your have already had your sins washed away in the waters of baptism. Maybe you have already been washed by the blood of the Lamb, but maybe that’s where you are hovering through life, at that moment, within that choice. Each day we are blessed to receive is a day that we must choose to serve ourselves or God. Each and every day brings great opportunities to expand the kingdom of God upon this earth or the presence of ourselves. Choose today whom you will serve, yourself or God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me choose to serve You every day, so Your presence might become more common within my life and more powerful within this world.
