8/7/13 Daily Devotion

2 Chronicles 6:19 Yet, Lord my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence.

The temple was built, and the ark was brought into its place. The people were gathered, and Solomon had begun his prayer of dedication. His words were powerful. His statements were image provoking. His sincerity was felt within the hearts of all present, and his desire to have God move within his life was touching. Solomon knew and felt the power of God, and he did not want it to become distant. Solomon knew the power of prayer was the avenue that brought us powerfully into the presence of God, and he sought to tap into it at every opportunity. For without it, he knew something would be missing. Is our desire similar to Solomon’s? Do we want to know and feel the power of God? Do we utilize the power avenue of prayer to tap into the presence of God?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me draw powerfully into Your presence while I utilize the wonderful gift of prayer.
