8/27/13 Daily Devotion

Psalm 142:5 I cry to you, Lord; I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

What place does God have within your life? Is He in a position of importance, as He deserves, or is He just present? How often do we acknowledge His position within our lives? God deserves our greatest respect for all that He has done. His expression of love is powerfully seen within many aspects of our lives, and even more so within the world. We often just go through life not considering the existence of God until Saturday night, when we are contemplating our presence at church the next morning. We go on as if He did not matter to us, as if His presence were not significant enough to make a difference within our lives. When we run into tragedy or turmoil, we run to Him; but when life is grand, we keep Him at a distance. This must change. We must begin to treat God with the respect that is due Him and afford to Him the honor that He has earned. We must be willing to shout into this world and declare that He alone is our refuge. He alone is our source of peace.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I want You to move powerfully within my life. Please let me experience Your presence and honor You with my life.
