9/7/13 Daily Devotion

Job 3:16 Or why was I not hidden away in the ground like a stillborn child, like an infant who never saw the light of day?

If we were to say that Job was experiencing some difficult times, we would be correct, but we would be far from the reality of these circumstances. Most people, most of us, would never have survived had we been faced with enduring that which Job endured. We would have given up on ourselves, and we would have given up on God. Some of us would have cursed God and His inability to act within our circumstances. Others would have left Him in the dust, so to say, for what they perceived as His unwillingness to bless their lives. Then there are the few, the few that would have reacted just as Job. The few that would reach for God and listen for His teaching. The few that would grasp onto His presence and allow it to be their strength. The few that would turn to Him instead of turning away from Him. The question we have to answer is this: will we be one of the few?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, guide me into believing that You have my best interests at heart, even when times are difficult for me.
