10/2/13 Daily Devotion

Romans 7:18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[B] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

When we read these words, we can feel the sincerity of Paul’s heart. We can sense his desire to become a true servant of God; but, unfortunately, these words do not flow from the lips of too many others, if any at all. Not many people are willing to openly or privately profess that they have fallen short of God’s expectations. Not many of us, if any at all, are willing to admit that we have a sinful nature that strives to keep us from reaching our full potential as Christians, but this is exactly what is needed. In order for us to progress powerfully into the type of Christians God expects, we must be honest with who we are, where we are, and where we need to go. Truth within ourselves helps keep the impression we bring into this world untainted.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me live in such a way that Your are properly displayed as The Lord of my life.
