10/3/13 Daily Devotion

1 Peter 2:25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Obedience is a necessity when it comes to Christianity, but obedience can only come as we understand our places. While some might not take a liking to this ideology, it is factual. When we understand who God is, when we understand all that He has done for us, when we understand what He has promised to do for us in the future, the natural response is obedience. If we are living our lives like sheep that have gone astray, we have not truly grasped the concept of what God has done within our lives. If this continues, it will lead us to eternal damnation. So the choice is pretty simple: obedience or eternal suffering? Make your choice.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me see the need to serve You obediently. Help me see how my obedience to You can be a blessing and not a detriment.
