10/21/13 Daily Devotion

1 Samuel 26:23 The Lord rewards every man for his righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lords anointed.

Becoming righteous as God is righteous is not a task for the unfocused heart. Becoming righteous as God is righteous takes a powerful commitment from everyone. While it may seem out of reach, with the help of God, righteousness is obtainable. Why become righteous? Why make all the necessary changes within our lives to become righteous? The answer is not as easy as one might seem to think, or is it? Becoming righteous as God is righteous brings into the ever changing world an example of Christ, an example that is to be followed. Another reason to become righteous as God is righteous is to experience the blessings of God. What are these blessings? That’s a question that cannot be answered, but it can be felt, for God will bless us in ways that will bring joy into our hearts and hope into our presence.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me become righteous that I might shine with Your presence within this seemingly dark world, thus becoming a beacon that will lead others to You.
