11/4/13 Daily Devotion

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Is the manner in which we approach God important? Does that question even need to be asked? Of course the way we approach God is important. Would you walk up to the President of the United States and say, “What Up Dude?” Of course not. Would you walk up to the queen of England and say, “Hey girl, love the kicks?” Of course not. Why, then, would we even consider approaching God with anything other than a sincere reverence? God is God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe, and He deserves our entrance of gratitude. He deserves our sincerity. As we come before God, we must come seeking the audience of a King, for He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. As we come before God, we must come with a cleansed heart, a heart focused on the power of His presence within our lives.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, You are God. Help me come before You with the reverence You deserve. Help me seek You in a manner that describes my gratitude. Help me find You.
