11/23/13 Daily Devotion

Matthew 5:11-12 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

When we are being insulted or persecuted, we don’t feel blessed. When others are spreading lies about us, we don’t feel blessed. Even though we do not feel blessed, we should be rejoicing. If people are coming against us because of what we believe, we are blessed. We are blessed because that means we have made claims and backed them up with our lives. That means we have become living, breathing examples of a servant of God, and for that we should be rejoicing.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, because of You, my life is filled with blessings. For that, I am forever grateful.
