12/4/13 Daily Devotion

Matthew 21:15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were indignant.

After seeing the wonderful things Jesus had done, why would the religious leaders and teachers be indignant? The answer would be fear coupled together with jealousy. They were jealous of the attention the people were giving to Jesus, and they were afraid they were losing their positions of glory. Jesus was a threat to the life that they had become accustomed to living. How can someone have such an attitude? Well, is it really much different today? People are still indignant over religious practices/beliefs. They want salvation without sacrifice. They want forgiveness without repentance. They want their cake without the calories. Being a follower of Jesus is a choice that we must make everyday. It’s a choice we will have to live with for all eternity.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I choose You! I will not allow the opinions of others keep me from living my life for You any longer. I choose You.
