1/2/14 Daily Devotion

Romans 12:4-5 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Have you ever been blessed to be part of a functioning group that has no real function? Maybe it was an office that always seemed to be in disarray. Maybe it was a school system that always seemed to be lost within its own actions. Maybe it was a governmental system body that seemed to say one thing and go forth doing something completely different. When the functions of a functioning group do not function properly, can the functions of that group make a difference? A church that runs in circles, a church that has no general direction, a church that has no real purpose, will not succeed. In order for a church to have an impact on the surrounding community, it must have a purpose in mind. It must have a focus that keeps it on the right track. It must have a desire to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus. For if it does not, it will not glorify God.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me understand what I can do to bring about Your will for the congregation I call home.
