1/18/14 Daily Devotion

Mark 9:35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.

Being a Christian is not about individuality. We live within a society that teaches us to serve ourselves, a society that teaches us to seek to live for our own personal desires, but the Bible has a completely different point of view. The Bible teaches that our desire to be noticed by others should be preempted by our desire to be a servant of God. In other words, if we want to be noticed by others, we should be willing to be their servants. In being their servants, the joy of God will be felt within our lives.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, teach me to have a servant’s heart.
