1/25/14 Daily Devotion

1 Timothy 3:2-4 Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, (3) not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. (4) He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.

Satan is conniving. Satan is sneaky. Satan is an enemy that should not be overlooked. Satan is not a foe that should be ignored. He is and always will be someone who wants to hurt those who love God, someone who wants to hurt God, but he has been defeated. The shed blood of Jesus on the cross of Calvary has brought him defeat. The resurrection of Jesus has brought him defeat. We also can bring him defeat. Through the power of God, we are able to stand up to any of his schemes, any of his temptations, any of his attempts to cause us to walk away from our faith. He has been defeated, thus he has no hold on us that we have not allowed him to possess. We need to cover our church, its members, and leaders in prayer. We must pray that each of us obtains the strength to stand up to the powerless presence of Satan.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, I lift before you each and every Christian in this world. I pray that You would give each of us the strength we need to live powerfully for You. I pray that we would all stand for what is righteous and never fall for the schemes of the Devil.
