2/21/14 Daily Devotion

Galatians 2:6 As for those who seemed to be important whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance those men added nothing to my message.

I’m sure most of us are glad that God does not judge on external appearances; for if He did, most of us would be in drastic trouble. Seriously, it is good for us all that God looks at and knows our hearts, for that is where our true essence lies. Unfortunately, we judge a great deal upon outward appearances. We make snap judgments based on looks, size, race, and/or disabilities of people. We decide often whether we like them, want to come near them, or what their intelligence level is based on our perception of outward appearances. This happens often without even hearing a single word flow from their mouths. We must stop this process from occurring. We must see people through the eyes of God. We must strive to see their hearts, for it is there that we will see the true essence of who they really are, the true essence of their existence, and isn’t that what we want them to see as they look upon our lives?

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me see each person I meet through the contents of their hearts and not their outward appearances.
