3/7/14 Daily Devotion

Galatians 4:7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

Most people spend a considerable amount of time thinking about their future, especially as it concerns their retirement. We wonder if we will continue to be blessed with sufficient employment. We pray that we put enough away to sustain us after we are no longer able to work. We hope we are able to offer some type of financial assistance to our children and/or grandchildren if the need arrives. All of these are commendable concerns, for the direction we take will adjust the impact we have on ourselves and our families. When it comes to our eternal retirement, our concerns don’t need to be that dire. Once we transfer control of our lives over to God, we become His sons and daughters. We become heirs of the kingdom of God. We are undeserving of this gift, but it is offered to us because of Jesus, because of the love that He possesses for us.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, as I await the moment You guide me to my eternal home, help me live as one who appreciates all that You have done.
