3/22/14 Daily Devotion

Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Paul says that the acts of the sinful nature are obvious. Would you agree with this statement? Those who disagree usually do so because of an internal motive of the heart. We don’t want to see the obvious sins, because we don’t want them to lead us to conviction. We don’t want to see the obvious sins, because we don’t want to believe that we are in need of changing our ways. When we read Paul’s list of obvious sins, in the verses above, we should notice that most common sins can fit into one or more of these categories. When we read from the list, we should also be convicted to look deep into our own lives and determine if any of this exists. We should be convicted enough to change anything that strives to hold us from an eternity in Heaven.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me look honestly into the reflection of my heart, so I may determine what needs to change within my life.
