3/26/14 Daily Devotion

Galatians 6:4-5 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, for each one should carry his own load.

What motivates you? What causes you to act the way you do? What influences you to present yourself to the world the way you do? Everyone is influenced, either by personal motives or from the outside. Everyone makes decisions based on these influences. Everyone makes choices centered around the influences in their lives. This is a natural conceptualization of life, and it can have a powerful impact on those around us, but only if it is kept in check. Paul teaches us something that cannot be understated: Each one should test his own actions. In other words, we must come to understand why we do what we do. We must come to understand what motivates us. We must come to understand what is influencing our actions and reactions; for if we do not, they can carry us away from Christianity, causing us to become lost before we even realize we have taken a wrong turn.

Prayer Starter:

Lord, help me see clearly what is influencing my actions and reactions.
